Exam stress.

There’s this time of the year where most of us do the exams and unfortunately, I’m among those people (hopefully for last time). What can one do to handle all the impossible stress?

Manage your time better

We all handle stress better or worse, but the source of it is usually the same: lack of time to study and tons of papers to go through. Trust me, you always have enough time to study, you just need to see what you’re actually doing through the day. Are you cleaning your room very carefully, washing the dust from the pile of study papers, very gracefully avoiding to look at them? Well, that happens to everyone, but you need to be aware of what “eats” your “precious” time. Do a thing: take one day for a test, and write all the hours in a day: 1:00 am, 2:00 am, etc. until midnight. Write by every hour what you have been doing and how much of it was actually learning things for exams. Bad time management is usually the main reason for exam stress, so by managing time better, you can take some weight off your shoulders.

Burn-out.

I spoke about bad time management, but it can happen also that you may… work too much actually. Sometimes we dive so deep in our work that we forget about time passing and that’s how whole weeks pass eventually. Then no wonder we feel more stress than before when suddenly we are unable to focus or do anything work-related. You need a day off. Trust me.

It’s just… an exam

It’s not the end of the world, but if you are like me, or rather how I used to be, when any exam or test had to be passed at least for 70-90%, then I feel you. But at the same time, when I look back at all those marks (or grades, don’t know which one is more “proper”), I see how invisible difference it made in my life. No one ever asked me about my marks at a job interview, you don’t write them anywhere in official papers. So why to stress about getting 5, when you can be healthy and sleep normally with the 3. You have to make a choice.
