Beauty of Gjøvik.
As the winter has come, snow-covered up Norway from every city to every village. It melts down from time to time, but it’s only a glimpse to make it all white again. Some cities are more receptive to snowing and among them is a small city called Gjøvik. It’s located on the top left side of Mjøsa. The city is even smaller than Hamar, however, it still has its own beauty to it. Here are some pictures I took recently.
Little snow setup.
So as you may, or may not know, I have quite beautiful view outside the window. It inspires me not only to draw, but to create small things like that. Hope you’ll enjoy this little setup, which, I hope, has a nice representation of winter’s beauty.
Friday with Norwegian #15 – movies.
Last time I presented few series, this time we will have few movies on a plate. I tried to look not only for good productions but also those who can be easily found outside the whole NRK spectrum. It’s really hard to find film with solid subtitles, so the best way to is to download the movie and then go on subscene.com and find your subtitles called in Norwegian undertekst. Sunset session in Hamar.
This time a photo session. Catching a really good sunset in Norway is sometimes tricky, due to the early hours of sunset (around 4pm). It happened that yesterday not only was I on time by the Mjøsa but I also got the cloudless, beautiful sky.
Few hours in Oslo.
It’s Wednesday, middle of the week, middle of November. Oslo is already dressed up for Christmas. The bells are hanging up through the main part of Karl Johans gate, which is the most famous street in the capital of Norway. And this is where I spend those few hours with my friends.
Janteloven – no individuality?
Janteloven, Jantelögin, Jantelagen, Janten laki… all those names sum up to Law of Jante. It’s not accidental that all those synonyms are Scandinavian or Nordic. It’s all began there. In the simplest words, it’s all about being ordinary, negative look on individual success and generally speaking, equality of everyone i every life aspect.
Depressed society.
Darkness. Around 4 pm the Sun goes down, and after 16 hours it’s a full, shiny day again. It’s only November here, but for someone who doesn’t know this climate, it’s strange. Sometimes really depressing. Isn’t it odd, that darkness has so much to do with the darkness of the soul?
Disconnection.

It’s really important these days to unplug yourself. This post is not connected (see what I did there) to Norway, however, you can say it follow their good mindset. It’s rather hard to actually put our phones and laptops away, and just sit with a book and good music, or just doing house chores. Some people have no idea, how relaxing is cleaning your house. Also it’s a good exercise. Two birds, one stone.
Fridays with Norwegian #14 – series.
The best way to learn yourself language is to hear it. That means: movies, series, YouTube videos, music etc. Today I want to stick with series.
